At the school every lesson is built around what the student enjoys: the piece they want to play, the time they have to practise, and exactly where they are. One-to-one or in very small groups, 30 or 60 minutes.
Piano, guitar, singing and choir, at any age. Technique, interpretation and musical language are worked on through the piece in front of you. Students preparing for official exams are coached here too.
For children under 5. They discover music and absorb its basics intuitively — rhythm, pulse, pitch, timbre, movement and singing — through a story in which they are the main characters.
Two student recitals a year, open to families and friends, plus concerts, talks and workshops through the term. Playing for other people is part of learning here, not an examination.
It grew from one specific idea: to study music without entering the conservatoire system. No weight of hours, no years of theory before the first note, no courses you pass or fail.
The result is an unusual mix: someone preparing conservatoire auditions, someone who wants to play their own songs, someone who comes because it does them good — all under one roof. Each keeps their own pace; the school adapts.
She trained at the Conservatori Superior Municipal de Música de Barcelona and earned her organ teaching diploma from the Yamaha Foundation of Music in Tokyo.
She was a soloist with the Orfeó Català under Adam Fischer and Franz Brüggen, and directed the Grup Vocal Scherzo for close to thirty years. She had taught since 1986; in 1994 she opened her school. The way she taught still defines the place.
Since 2022 her son has carried the project on at Carrer de València 61, training the teachers in this approach. What started it remains: very small groups and no imposed levels.
Yes. At the Cristina Blasi Music School the first lesson is a trial and commits you to nothing. It is there so you can meet the teacher, see how we work, and decide with something to go on.
Yes. A good share of the students at the Cristina Blasi Music School are adults starting from scratch or returning to the piano after many years. There is no age limit and no entry level.
Early years music is for children under 5, from age 1, who discover music through play and storytelling. From age 3 they can begin instrument lessons, usually piano.
No. Here you play from the first lesson, and notation is folded in as it becomes useful, always tied to the piece you are working on.
Lessons at the school are 30 or 60 minutes, one-to-one or in very small groups. There is also a semi-private format: two students with the same teacher.
Yes. Anyone sitting official exams — conservatoire entrance, grado profesional or equivalent qualifications — can prepare for them here, without that obliging any other student to follow a graded path.
Alongside piano, the school teaches guitar, singing and choir, plus early years music for the youngest children.
Yes. There are two recitals a year, open to families and friends, plus concerts, talks and workshops through the term. Taking part is entirely optional.
The school sits between Rocafort and Calàbria, just off Avinguda de Roma. The nearest metro stops are Entença (L5), Rocafort (L1) and Tarragona (L3), all a few minutes on foot, and Sants station is about fifteen minutes' walk.
